PALEO OVER AND DONE WITH

ON DAY 21 OR THERE ABOUTS I DECIDED TO END MY PALEO CHALLENGE. NOT BECAUSE IT WAS TOO HARD OR ANYTHING BUT BECAUSE MY GOALS HAD BEEN REACHED AND I FEEL FANTASTIC. IN 20 DAYS I DROPPED 10 POUNDS SO BACK TO MY NORMAL WEIGHT. I HAVNT DONE A BODY FAT ANALYSIS YET BUT IM SURE IVE MADE A DIFFERENCE IN THE MONTH SINCE. MY WORKOUTS AT THE CROSSFIT GYM ARE GETTING BETTER EVERY DAY AND I CAN SEE A DIFFERENCE IN THE MIRROR(WHICH IS WHAT EXERCISE IS ALL ABOUT RIGHT, JK).

THE PLAN NOW IS TOO FOLLOW A COMMON SENSE DIET PLAN KEEPING IN MIND PORTIONS RATHER THAN COUNTING CALORIES. COUNTING CALORIES SUCK, AS DOES MEASURING AND WEIGHING BUT IF YOU WANT TO PERFORM AT PEAK PERFORMANCE ITS A NECESSARY EVIL.

IM REALLY ENJOYING THIS CROSSFIT STUFF BUT HOPEFULLY I GO HAVE AN ADVENTURE SOON SO I CAN BLOG ABOUT SOMETHING DIFFERENT. I REALLY NEED TO GET TO AZ TO SEE MY NEW NIECE.
I LOVE THAT FACE. AND HER CHEEKS.

DAY 9

So im now 9 days into my little challenge. All in all i feel fine. Ive been told there is a transition time between when your body switches from using muscle glycogen to fat stores for energy. So far i haven't really hit that. Hard to tell though since im such a horrible sleeper and typically feel tired anyways. As far as the diet itself i dont find it real hard to follow. I still get plenty of food and rarely feel like im starving. It has been interesting in the kitchen though trying new alternatives to my ordinary meals. Ive also adopted a "waste not" attitude so anything that can be used for something else gets used. An example it almond pulp after making almond milk. Ive turned it into almond meal and tried almond hummus. The hummus wasnt awesome but thats mostly my fault. So far ive lost 5 pounds which for me is the reason for doing this. Also my body is finally getting used to the crazy Crossfit workouts so ill have enough energy to get out and run this week. Or XC Ski since we finally got a little snow.

Theres my plug for now...

Almost there...uh...not really

30 Day Challenge

So ive decided to take on what some or rather most would say is crazy nonsense. A 30 day Paleo Diet Challenge. I know its a new and kind of radical idea being that it teaches against what weve been taught for so long. Here is the gist of it. NO DAIRY. NO GRAINS. NO LEGUMES. Now before you all go nuts just know that Ive been researching it pretty heavily and all i can do is...TRY IT! Its funny cause all the literature ive read spells out the science behind it all but it really comes down to giving it a shot.

Ive always thought that we consume way too much gluten products in our diets. Same with dairy. but legumes? So again all i have to say is that im going to give it a try. This also does not mean that 90% of my diet will be meat. Actually i dont plan on eating more than i already do. The hardest part i think will be no bread, cookies, pasta, rice.

After 30 days ill make my decision on continuing with it based on my results. I expect that after ill reintroduce some things but at a reduced volume, again especially breads. I eat way too much of that.

So tomorrow i start. This is mainly cause ive dedicated 2012 to reaching my fitness potential and finally feeling better internally (GI tract) which has always been a roller coaster ride for me.

Ill post as i go...

5k with BATC

We ran a 5k as a team to represent the BATC Fire and Rescue Services Program. It was a lot of fun. Two of us ran it with air packs on and breathing through SCBAs. Sort of like breathing through a straw when you really get worked up.

L to R: Raschelle Johnson(student), Ryan Ottley(student), Jeremy Robertson(Asst. Director), Heath Banbury(instructor), Adam Christensen(past student), Bryan Davies(Director), Little Davies, (daughter).

away we go

I had an air leak and needed a bottle change

Been For Dam Ever I know...again

i recently took my Utah Hunter Safety class and here is how it went. 25 or so people with a few girls 20 or so 12 year old boys and a 31 year old me. It was funny. The little guys were way into it. They knew all the animal species which i had no clue of and were fun to watch shoot. Some of them looked 8. On the shooting test you had to shoot a .22 30 times and get 15 0f 30 inside the kill zone on a paper rabbit. Each kid was sweating as the intructor added their scores...13...14...15...16, then i sigh of relief. I on the other hand went 30 for 30...no big deal, ha ha.

so i am now official. my first hunt set was to be "DUCKS"...ive been told they dont taste very good and i say ill be the judge of that. My rules for hunting is that everything i shoot will be eaten and i am not interested in being a trophy hunter. So you will n

ot see me out there looking for the big buck or elk. next year ill go for a cow elk or something. its all about the meat and experience for me.

so as of now ive been out duck hunting twice and only halve one kill to show for it. its hard to judge how far is too far to shoot with a shotgun. i love it though. i catch myself staring at the scenery too much but thats part of it for me. i havnt eaten the duck yet. my buddy Cody likes to age them a little then cook them so we should be having duck dinner here soon.
